So it seems i have found my replacement for a "shining star" that has gone pretty dull and overpriced and rude tech support.
My question is, how well can i use iRatchet between two Macs?
I currently use my PowerMac workstation for actually working, but on occassion I use my PowerBook to do business managing as well as some projects.
What kind of support does iRatchet have to keep me synchronized between both machines.
Thank you. |

Hey Sphereboy,
Well, there really isn't any automated way to sync between two computers (at least not yet . The xml export/import support is smart enough to handle duplicates, etc. For example, you could export a client and its projects from one computer (by date range, all, etc.) and import them into the other computer, specifying to skip duplicates.
So, I have a couple of customers that use it this way. Not automated, but workable. I'm going to integrate .mac sync support at some time in the future. This will allow for very automated sync support. Honestly, no time frame for that yet. So many features, so little time

Well, you have certainly made me happy with your quick response. I am not surprised, as i have seen you reply to most of everyone's questions on here.
I am going to do some testing with what you said as well as with my Sync software chronosync.
Thank you so much, and expect a new buyer soon. I am very impressed. |

I am wholeheartedly in favor of syncing between two Macs. I use a desktop production machine for most work but occasionally travel to work. A simple method of syncing the two would be quite useful. As it is now, I have to track billing on the road and then manually re-input the same data into my master production machine.
However, shackling sync to .Mac is not my cup of tea as I don't use nor plan to use .Mac. I would hope that syncing can be done via perhaps Bonjour so that, as soon as I bring my Macbook back to the office network, I can initiate a sync from within iRatchet. |

Instead of entering each project/data manually, perhaps you could do this until syncing is available:
1. Copy from the main computer to the portable the
~/Library/Application Support/iRatchet folder
2. Enter your data on the road, and upon return:
3. Copy from the portable to the desktop to replace the
~/Library/Application Support/iRatchet folder
This is obviously a brute force way to do it, but you wouldn't even have to open iRatchet to get everything from one computer to the other and back again. _________________ Terry
